As a company, it can be tough to know how to choose the right recruitment company for your needs; it’s almost as if you need to interview them, before interviewing the candidates they will send your way.

So, we at Waves Recruitment, thought it would be useful to create a handy article to help you know the questions to ask a recruitment company, to make sure they are right for you and your needs.

  1. Do you have any specialisms?

This is to do with if the recruitment company have a specialist field that they focus on in terms of placements. For us, we focus only on excellent Personal Assistant and Executive Assistants in the Thames Valley and London areas.

Once they have shared with you their specialism, this will help you know straight away if they will have the candidates you will need for the role you need to fill.

  1. How do you find candidates that are suitable?

This is another key area to focus on, as many recruitment companies have a selection of candidates on their database that will fill certain roles perfectly, but how do they know that they will fit? We ensure that all of our candidates have a personal meeting with Katie, who can get to know their personality, skillsets, passions and experience, and we then note these down for future potential roles.

This helps us to know straight away the people that would perfectly fit the role our clients are looking for. This is so important, as when you are interviewing the candidates your recruitment company sends your way, you don’t want to waste your valuable time meeting the wrong people.

  1. What is your pricing?

Most recruitment companies work on a percentage of the candidate’s income, but you will need to ask them before they get started, so you know straight away how much of an investment will be required when you find the perfect new person for your role.

  1. What support do you offer?

As a recruitment company, we are here to lighten your load, by doing all the legwork for you, so making sure you know exactly what support the recruitment company you are interviewing will offer you, will help you understand how helpful they will be for you. They may also offer varying levels of support, depending on the urgency of the role to be filled, and the amount of support you personally require. Ask them which packages they can offer you, and what these include, if they do have packages on offer.

  1. Will you write the job advert for us?

This can be a tricky one, as you may often feel you are best placed to write the job specifications for candidates to see, however, as the specialist in their field, they may suggest writing it for you. There are many reasons for this, mainly because they understand the people you are looking for, and therefore will be able to write a job advert that will attract the right people to enquire.

  1. Do you have any suggestions for interview questions?

As a recruitment company, they have a lot of experience of finding the right candidates, and therefore have practiced countless interview questions, finding ones that work and ones that don’t. Ask them for some suggestions to help you make sure that the interviews you conduct with the candidates they send to you, will help you discover the right fit for your business.

We hope you find these questions helpful in your search for the right recruitment company for your needs.
